What is an Epicurista?
An Epicure or Epicurean is a person devoted to refined sensuous enjoyment, with discriminating tastes especially in food and drink. This definition sounds a bit highbrow to me for which only a 10 course dinner with expensive wines will do; certainly eating from a food cart doesn’t seem to fit the bill. The term Foodie is more commonly used also defined as a person having an enthusiastic interest in the preparation and consumption of good food. For me, these definitions were only part true but they were missing the most important ingredient. So, I adopted the word Epicurista and created my own definition.
Epicurista: n. (eh-pik-your-ees-tah) A person who enjoys great food, wine and celebrations with friends anywhere and everywhere around the world. Those who #MakeSomedayHappen one delicious bite, sip and trip at a time.
Being an Epicurista means to me that although I do enjoy living well and indulging in decadent meals and expensive wines, I would much rather live a well-lived life, enjoying great food and drinks in a variety of forms, from fries to soufflés, and making every day a celebration with my friends. Friends being the most important ingredient to make any meal a great meal.
What does it mean to GoEpicurista?
GoEpicurista: v.The pursuit and celebration of great food and wine with your friends everywhere you go. To #MakeSomedayHappen one delicious bite, sip and trip at a time.
I love to travel and I’m always on the go. I think you can find great food anywhere, you just have to listen to the recommendations from the locals and be open to try new things. It’s important to make it a priority to take time out of our busy lives to spend time celebrating life with family and friends. Enjoying great food and wine is always a good way to do that.
“GoEpicurista” is all about getting rid of the excuses and reconnecting with friends over a fun meal and a bottle of wine. GO ahead and have friends over even if the house is not perfectly clean, GO out and try that new restaurant even if you think you should work late, and GO take a trip with your friends to a fun destination even when you think there is just no way you can get away. Make every day a celebration and don’t wait for it to be a special occasion because “someday” may never come. Make “Someday” a reality. #MakeSomedayHappen
